The Wyboston Lakes conference group has produced a calendar of events highlighting its activities in terms of both corporate and individual giving. It has been developed to underline the organisation’s corporate social responsibility commitment to current and potential corporate customers.
A key element is taking place in the last week of July with 18 members of staff walking South Downs Way to raise at least £2k for Bedford Child Development Centre. The money will go towards two projects at the centre, the production of a DVD for young people with Asperger's Syndrome, and improvements to the CDC Information Room, where parents can gain assistance and information relating to their children's problems.
The philanthropic calendar, coupled with the venue’s recycling and energy efficiency programme, is helping to ensure that Wyboston Lakes maintains its momentum as a key destination for the corporate with a conscience. Barry Stonham, Operations Director said: 'We didn’t appreciate the extent of the giving until we started planning the calendar. The calendar is very much a changing landscape as we are keen to work with charities and of course help our own employees fulfil their own charitable and giving wishes.'
Wyboston Lakes is situated on a 350 acre estate on the Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire border. Its two main venues, the Robinson Executive Conference Centre and the Waterfront Conference Centre, are both members of the Conference Centres of Excellence group.
Wyboston Lakes has also scooped an award for ‘best website’ at the Communic8 awards for the Anglian region. It has become increasingly conscious of the use of the web by event planners and delegates and has invested heavily in the site. Offering online availability of both meeting space and overnight accommodation bookings, the site is complimented by sophisticated usage of Outlook diary management, which automatically updates guests’ electronic diaries with dates and details of special events held in the on-site Waterfront Brasserie. The website receives over 600 hits each day.
