Warwick Conferences, the umbrella organisation for three purpose-built conference centres at the University of Warwick, is celebrating another successful event after hosting the inaugural International Association of Conference Centers (IACC) European Conference at its Scarman centre.
With the title ‘Expanding our horizons’, the conference attracted more than 85 delegates from 10 countries, and was the first time a number of key speakers from the industry sector had been brought together.
The event ran a range of workshops on sales and marketing, ‘Food on the brain’, menu engineering and web marketing. Delegates were also treated to a range of themed nights – an English ‘country pub’ night and a Midsummer Night’s Dream gala dinner at Scarman House, and a feast at Warwick Castle.
‘The conference was a great success and we were delighted to welcome all the delegates over the weekend,’ says Richard Harrison, operations manager at Scarman. ‘With the audience being conference professionals working within the industry they were our most critical customers to date – but everything went smoothly and the feedback we have received was very positive.’
Lynne Snow, the conference’s chairwoman, was full of praise for the venue. ‘The conference was run superbly from start to finish, and this was largely down to the staff at Warwick Conferences – and particularly Richard Harrison and the staff at Scarman. The delegates all thoroughly enjoyed themselves, the 21 speakers certainly broadened our horizons, and the themed nights were expertly managed and executed.’
