In a period of just seven weeks this summer, the Cotswold Conference Centre is carrying out an extensive refurbishment of its building known on the campus as ‘Smallbrook’, which contains the main reception, dining and leisure facilities.
With targeted completion at the start of September, the project will provide the award winning venue with a completely new reception and lounge area, a new bar and a redesigned gymnasium. The centre’s restaurant is also being extensively remodelled and extended, and there will be additional facilities for private dining.
General Manager Nick Akerman commented: 'We are also taking the opportunity to improve parking and accessibility to the building and the exterior will benefit from a new wood panelling created from British larch. It is a remarkably quick turnround time, but the pressure will be worth it and the result will represent a major step forward for the centre and will significantly enhance our customers’ experience.'
Set in 370 acres on the Cotswold edge escarpment, the centre - a member of Conference Centres of Excellence - has provided a dedicated training and learning venue to the wider commercial world since 2001. Along the way, the team has won several awards for customer service with their Head Receptionist winning the Regional Heart of England Tourism Gold Award for customer service from Tourism West Midlands in 2007. Most recently, the centre received an award under the Green Business Tourism Scheme, after being judged against a rigorous set of criteria covering energy and water efficiency, waste management and biodiversity.
Designed by trainers, its plenary and syndicate rooms, dining room and various bedroom buildings can accommodate groups of up to100 delegates. There are 9 main meeting rooms, each fully equipped with technology including data projection, document cameras and magnetic walls for easy application of flipchart paper. Free wi-fi access is available and a new business centre. Complementing the meeting rooms are 53 well appointed study bedrooms which all have en-suite facilities and a study area. Four bedrooms have been designed with accessibility in mind. Leisure facilities include the new lounge bar with private dining options and a gymnasium.
