Stoke Mandeville Stadium adds distinctive dimension to any event

02 February

It’s always a challenge for organisers to find a venue that’s not only right for the event, but has that additional factor that makes it stand out as an experience. Aylesbury’s Stoke Mandeville provides that factor better than most, because it’s also one of the country’s’ most important sporting and highly respected sporting locations.

Of course, it’s best known for training many of our internationally successful sportsmen and sportswomen women – it’s famous as The National Centre for Wheelchair Sport and as the birthplace of the Paralympics. And that reputation in turn provides any visitor, gust or deelgate with a sense of inspiration and motivation.

Through its pioneering role, it has sports-related facilities that lend themselves perfectly to corporate team building and fun days out. But is still comes as a surprise to many people that Stoke Mandeville is also a state of the art leisure and events complex which can accommodate a full range of events, from conferences and product launches to wedding receptions and parties.

There's even more, with an excellent accommodation option. The on-site Olympic Lodge Hotel has 50 high standard ensuite rooms, a total of 100 beds, with colour TVs, internet access, direct dial telephones and team and coffee making facilities. Guests have free use of the centre’s swimming pool and gym.

Self-contained

Stoke Mandeville’s Wolfson Conference Centre is a completely self-contained unit, with a total of eight conference rooms of varying sizes, capable of accommodating meetings from one-to-ones up to 200 people. The centre’s main Sports Hall can accommodate exhibitions for up to 1400 attendees.

Stoke Mandeville Institute of Sport and Education is committed to providing education and training to enable more people to get involved in disability sport, as athletes, coaches and officials.

The brand new learning centre fitted with the latest interactive IT equipment enables companies and groups to provide their delegates an opportunity to develop their skills in areas and ways not normally available at other conference venues.

Stoke Mandeville Institute of Sport and Education is a partnership between Bucks New University, Bucks & Milton Keynes Sports Partnership, Leisure Connection and WheelPower – British Wheelchair Sport.

Stoke Mandeville Stadium is owned by WheelPower, the national charity for wheelchair sport. It’s managed by Leisure Connection, the UK’s market leader in the management of sport and leisure operations.

'While sports camps and competitions form a significant part of our business, we also very firmly target the value end of the conference market,' says Leisure Connection’s Ian Seabrook, who is also Business Development Manager at Stoke Mandeville Stadium: 'We have a widely experienced team of events managers and dedicated catering teams who work with organisers to deliver events that are exactly tailored.'

Stoke Mandeville Stadium is one of England's three National Sports Centres. Its sister venues Bisham Abbey in Buckinghamshire and Lilleshall in Shropshire, are also managed by Leisure Connection and offer comparable options for conference meetings and events.
