Despite a history spanning more than 300 years, November 2008 marks the 10th anniversary of Sadler's Wells' much-loved new building in north London. And what a milestone it is – with the theatre's onstage programme pioneering the dance world, and its unique glass façade firmly established as an icon on the Clerkenwell skyline.
Created by Nicholas Hare Architects, the new building was designed to propel the theatre into the 21st century while retaining much of the extraordinary Sadler's Wells history at its core – including the 16th-century well, which can still be seen today.
Since reopening its doors in 1998, the theatre has played host to numerous high-profile events for clients including Warner Bros, HBOS, the Guardian and Nike. The three fully equipped theatres, intimate meeting spaces and beautifully appointed function rooms have captivated events organisers hosting everything from large blue-chip conferences, fashion shows, movie launches and award ceremonies to private dinners and exclusive drinks receptions.
The 1,500-seat Main Auditorium provides the ultimate event location with advanced theatre technology, ensuring an unbeatable impact. The Lilian Baylis Studio combines state-of-the-art facilities with a real theatre atmosphere to create a flexible setting perfect for seminars and workshops. And the stylish, naturally lit Mezzanine Level offers supreme versatility, providing a modern conference space by day and transforming by night into an elegant entertaining area, ideal for VIP receptions.
Located enviably close to the City as well as international transport links via Eurostar's new St Pancras home, Sadler's Wells offers not only an ideal location for delegates, but its stylish and accessible spaces are perfect for events both great and small.
