 Meetings, special events and conferencing at Easterbrook Hall in Dumfries now have a new dimension following the refurbishment of the Gilchrist Room and the addition of a terrace outside the Duncan Room.
Completion of the works coincided with the recent visit of London’s Globe Theatre, whose travelling troupe brought a hugely successful outdoor production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet to the Crichton Estate. After each performance, guests and actors mingled to enjoy relaxing drinks on the new terrace.
The £250,000 works have brought this area up to the high standards of art-deco Easterbrook Hall, which enjoyed a major refit at a cost of over £2million in 2006. Easterbrook‘s conference facilities can accommodate 1,000 delegates and cater for 500. Recognised as the top venue in south-west Scotland for gala dinners, exhibitions, product launches, conferences, training events and wedding receptions, its setting – in 100 acres of mature parkland – makes it unique among northern venues.
Angela McIntyre, venue manager for Easterbrook Hall, said: ‘The introduction of the terrace has encouraged al fresco dining, and guests have loved the access from the Duncan Room and being able to sit out there in the evenings. Its striking addition has integrated so well with the art deco building, it is difficult to see where the original ends and the new works begin. Uplighters and parasols give the whole area a continental feel, and feedback from guests has been wholly positive.’
