A prestigious new training centre has been officially launched by Professor Louis Appleby CBE, the Government’s national director for mental health. Located on the site of Arbury Court hospital in Warrington, the PiC National Training Centre is a purpose-built facility with a 65-seat lecture theatre, plus a suite of six seminar rooms and physical training areas.
The centre is maintained and run by Partnerships in Care, the UK’s leading independent provider of specialist mental health care and related services. While the new facility will provide development opportunities for the organisation’s staff, the training rooms are also available to hire at competitive prices.
The venue’s lecture theatre is fully interactive, offering two-way video conferencing and recording with web access. Comfortable and adaptable seating is offered, as well as the ability to accommodate wheelchair users. The lecturn has a built-in PC unit, projecting information on to a 77-inch screen. A room controller allows adjustment of the lighting and blinds as well as the interactive screen and theatre camera.
There are sufficient loudspeakers to transmit the lecturer’s voice so all delegates or trainees can listen in comfort, and an induction loop provides for those with hearing difficulties. Both static and roaming microphones are provided for all Q&A sessions.
The venue’s seminar rooms seat up to 90 people. They all have plasma screens, interactive whiteboards and video conferencing facilities.
Fred Sinclair-Brown, Partnerships in Care’s group chief executive, said: ‘It has long been the ambition of Partnerships in Care to open a national training centre. The developments on the Arbury Court site have allowed us to realise that ambition. Working with new colleagues, we look forward to providing high quality training to our own staff and, as importantly, other professionals within the North West region and across the United Kingdom.’
