On Wednesday and Thursday his week, the Millbrook proving ground near Bedford is hosting DVD 2008, a huge outdoor exhibition of defence-related vehicles and hardware, and one of the biggest events in the UK’s defence calendar.
DVD takes place annually at Millbrook, a purpose-built facility for the rigorous testing of military and other heavy-duty vehicles, which offers more than 70km of on- and off-road track. This year’s event is set to be the biggest to date, with exhibits spanning everything from army ration packs, medical supplies and tents to huge 32-tonne recovery vehicles.
DVD is a closed exhibition, giving the opportunity for manufacturers to interact with defence experts and learn about future requirements for military vehicles and supplies. More than 4,000 visitors are expected to attend the event, with the list of exhibitors topping 250.
Millbrook is the only place in the country where it is possible to find such a large array of vehicles on display. Its unique location allows visitors to test, drive and experience the vehicles in the conditions under which they are built to operate.
Situated on a breathtaking 700-acre site and offering contemporary exclusive spaces for 5-1400 delegates, Millbrook comprises four separate purpose-built venues in one location, and is home to some of the automotive industry’s most prestigious events.
Millbrook’s event venues – collectively called the Concept Centre – are fully adaptable and neutrally branded, making them suitable for a broad range of events. Each venue offers an unconventional space with inspiring industrial architecture. With no venue-sharing and no distractions, the Concept Centre offers complete confidentiality and security, providing an ideal location for technical product launches, discreet product clinics and product training.
