Thirteen key sporting events are set to attract thousands of people to a leading Sheffield sports venue over the next two months. The English Institute of Sport – Sheffield (EIS Sheffield) has lined up a packed programme of local, regional and national events throughout October, November and December.
Snooker highlights include the 2008 PartyPoker.com Premier League qualifying event on 30 October, the Masters Qualifier from 21-26 November, and the Maplin UK Championship qualifiers from 1-8 December.
The British Judo Senior Trials come to EIS Sheffield on 1 November, followed by the National Junior Boccia Finals on 22 and 23 November, and the National Indoor Hockey Finals on 11 and 12 December.
More than 1,000 pupils from as far afield as Stockport will take part in four separate winter school sports days, while the Sheffield International Venues facility will celebrate its fifth birthday with a special party event on 20 December with free activities for everyone to try.
The Keep Fit Association AGM on 8 November and Nottingham Open Badminton between 28 and 30 December make up the EIS Sheffield programme.
Richard McGrath, events supervisor at the venue, said: ‘The diverse events programme demonstrates how our unique venue successfully balances elite with community usage to ensure EIS Sheffield is accessible to all.
‘We’ve got some fantastic local, regional and national events coming up over the next few months that cover a whole range of sports from mainstream activities such as snooker and hockey to less conventional sports such as boccia.’
EIS Sheffield plays host to a range of bespoke corporate events and team-building activities. Situated in the sports quarter of the city and with ample free parking, EIS Sheffield is easily accessible from the M1 and is just a short distance from the city centre.
