Leeds Metropolitan University’s portfolio now includes a number of venues that are available all year round, broadening the scope of the university’s offering and attracting a more diverse range of events and conferences.
The university’s year-round venues include Gandhi Hall, a flexible space that blends contemporary and historic features. Capable of accommodating 377 delegates, Gandhi Hall is Leeds Met’s largest year-round venue, and comes equipped with an AV technician, a stage, ‘intelligent’ lighting and free wi-fi.
The Old School Board is a self-contained venue in the heart of the city, overlooking Millennium Square. The Grade II-listed building, which is furnished in a contemporary style and is popular among blue chip corporations, has a main presentation room and four separate breakout rooms for seminars or meetings.
Last weekend the university hosted the majority of events in the World Corporate Games, an annual multi-sport festival for ‘weekend sports warriors’. The event brought together the best corporate competitors from around the globe to compete in 21 different sports including rugby, football, tennis and even dragon-boat racing.
The games took full advantage of the university’s flexibility and its excellent sporting facilities, while its residencies were used to accommodate 1300 competitors and guests, including employees from some of the world’s largest firms such as Asda, KPMG, Vodafone, Unilever and Intel.
