CCV defies the crunch

13 November

Cavendish Conference Venues (CCV) is flying in the face of the economic downturn by opening two brand new venues in London within just four months of each other. The Hallam – located in the West End of the capital – is due to open in January 2009, hot on the heels of America Square Conference Centre in the City, which opened in September 2008.

The company’s significant investment in these two new conference venues is testament to its unwavering confidence in London’s conference market, as well as its ability to meet its customers’ needs – as Dermot Waldron, CCV’s director, explains. ‘Ambitious or plain mad, whatever your view, we believe we are on the right track to make our venues the ultimate meeting destinations in London. Come January 2009 we will be operating five superb venues, four in the West End and one in the City of London. We have several reasons to be confident, and anticipate success and growth for Cavendish Conference Venues for 2009 and beyond.’

CCV’s high customer service standards are rewarded with a high proportion of repeat custom (over 93 per cent). The company is now in a position to offer existing customers the opportunity to experience new venues without the risk of using an unknown venue management team. Add this to the fact that CCV has a loyal and dedicated team of staff – strengthened recently with the appointment of senior business development manager Ros De Vekey and diary manager Sarah Everard – and you have a winning combination.

‘This strengthening of our team gives us a clear goal to aim towards,’ Dermot adds. ‘It shows our commitment and confidence that we have in the existing members of staff, and also to the hard work and loyalty they have shown over the years.’

Although the group is expanding, it remains committed to listening and implementing changes to its venues as dictated by its clients. CCV is also a pioneer when it comes to green issues, taking the extra ‘leap’ where others are taking a ‘step’ forward. It is the only group of venues to be awarded a coveted Green Mark, and is working towards becoming landfill-neutral by January 2009. Not only that, but the group sets itself the objective of seeing customer surveys return a 100% satisfaction approval by ensuring that customers receive service levels over and above the expected standard.

‘In summary, five conference centres and the team to move forward are now all in place,’ Dermot concludes, ‘and we’re ambitiously aiming to achieve goals in the events industry that will set us above other venues in central London. With such a strong team, an amazing track record and great new venues, Cavendish Conference Venues remains confident that it will be able to beat the economic downturn.’
