 The Thistle Hotel in Glasgow has taken positive steps towards the completion of a major £10million refurbishment programme – with the launch of its stunning, spacious Grand Ballroom, the largest in Scotland.
This 993 sq ft space has been lovingly restored with a polished, wooden dancefloor, new carpets and completely replaced ornate hanging lights. The room is now available for large-scale business events, and is capable of accommodating 1,500 delegates seated in theatre style.
The Grand Ballroom can easily be divided into three suites, each with its own entrance into the lobby, using special acoustic partitions. The lobby is an integral part of the suite, and is designed to provide a flexible area for registration, pre-dinner drinks or tea and coffee.
Already scoring high marks with conference bookers across Scotland – including clients such as Kidney Research Scotland, Clic Sergeant, and NCH Scotland – the extensive £1.2m refurbishment has set the standard for the hotel’s complete rebrand programme, due to be completed in Spring 2009.
Conference bookers will also notice the refurbishment of the Robert Burns Suite, which seats 200 delegates theatre style – another ideal choice from the hotel’s 18 furnished, air-conditioned meeting spaces.

As well as the upgrade of its meeting and events offering, Thistle Glasgow is investing heavily in refurbishing its bedrooms and public areas under a £10million plan – part of a £100million rebrand programme currently under way across the entire 33-strong Thistle Hotels UK portfolio.
