Manchester named ‘Best UK Destination’ at International Confex

Manchester has been selected as the ‘Best UK Destination’ by a panel of conference industry experts at International Confex - an annual exhibition held in London for event organisers.
The award recognises Manchester as the UK’s perfect host destination for staging major conferences and events. Visit Manchester was attending Confex along with over 30 of the city’s leading hotels and conference venues.
Andrew Stokes, chief executive of Marketing Manchester, said: 'We’re absolutely delighted that Manchester has won this award. Conferences and events bring a great deal of economic benefit to the region and this kind of recognition will ensure that our corporate events industry remains strong.

To capitalise on the presence of the international conference industry in London, Visit Manchester held a separate showcase of the city - Manchester Live - which took place at Kensington Roof Gardens and attracted over 500 of the world’s top conference buyers and events organisers.
Manchester’s own Russell Watson performed an exclusive set for the invited guests. The aftershow party offered the chance for the industry to meet with Manchester’s hotels, conference venues and event suppliers.
