Lancashire & Blackpool launches brand new Conferences & Meetings Directory

20 January

The spectacular range of options offered by Blackpool and the surrounding regions of Lancashire are profiled in detail in a completely new directory, developed specifically for event organisers.

The new publication reflects the strategy of the Lancashire & Blackpool conference team to enhance the level of support it provides to clients and potential customers in the sector. A number of additional initiatives are being developed as part of the new portfolio of services, including the region’s first dedicated Venue Show that is planned for the spring.

Over the next few weeks, My Venues will be looking in detail at how the destination is enhancing still further its amazing spectrum of facilities and support services.

New energy for an established region

Lancashire and Blackpool have played uniquely prominent roles in the UK's tourism industry for more than 150 years, and are also clearly established as a destination for conferences, meetings, incentives and corporate hospitality packages. High capacity venues include Blackpool’s Winter Gardens Conference & Exhibition Centre and the famous Guild Hall in Preston. There’s also a superb array of established and highly respected and conference hotels, and a wonderful selection of unusual venues which offer conference facilities.

There’s no intention of resting on those laurels. 'Blackpool is currently undergoing a huge renaissance with an ambitious plan that will transform the resort physically and give it a modern 21st century character,' says the conference team’s Mandy Tythe-McCallum.

In the town, a stylish new seafront will lead on to an area that will provide spaces for education, leisure and entertainment, already perfectly demonstrated at the town’s New South Promenade. Other developments include the extension of the Hounds Hill Shopping Centre and a dedicated cultural and civic quarter. These plans are designed to enable Blackpool to become a year round destination appealing to leisure and business visitors alike on a national and international scale.

Further afield across Lancashire, in areas such as the Fylde Coast, Morecambe, Lancaster, Pennine and Central Lancashire and Preston, the range of conference and meeting options continues to develop. There’s outstanding choice, ranging from facilities at Lancaster, Cumbria and Central Lancashire Universities, at sporting stadiums, at prestige golf and country clubs, and at a range of special interest venues.
