Venuemasters, the consortium representing more than 85 academic venues, has elected three new representatives on to its board of directors. Alison Booth from King’s College in London, Kirstie Danzey from the University of Nottingham, and Trevor Miller from the University of Leicester were elected last month with the mission to set the vision, direction and strategic development of the company during their time on the board.
The consortium, a not-for-profit membership organisation, reports to the board, whose members are rotated every year at the annual general meeting. The board helps to ensure that the members’ interests are always at the forefront of company decisions, as the consortium looks to strengthen its position in the business, leisure and tourism market.
As event organisers search for more interesting and inspiring venues to hold events, academic institutions have been capitalising on this trend, improving their conference and accommodation facilities and promoting them more effectively.
Trevor Miller commented: ‘I am delighted to join the Venuemasters’ board of directors, and look forward to my involvement in steering the direction of the consortium. Venuemasters brings significant value to the academic venue sector by raising its profile, and is continually improving the quality of service it offers. I also welcome the opportunity of increasing market awareness for the University of Leicester as we work closer with the Venuemasters team.’
Venuemasters chief executive Terry Billingham added: ‘We’re happy to welcome three new members on to the board. The cycle of membership helps the consortium to develop by allowing new ideas and perspectives to be brought to the table. This is of direct benefit to the group as a whole.’
