Sir Ian Magee – former permanent secretary at the Department for Constitutional Affairs and head of operational delivery for the entire civil service – has joined event-management specialist Live Group as a non-executive director. Sir Ian will also chair a private panel of senior civil servants who will develop a five-year innovation programme for the group.
‘I am delighted to be working with one of the Government’s leading event agencies,’ Sir Ian comments, ‘and I am particularly excited about the prospect of engaging closely with government colleagues on the group’s latest strategic development.’
The Live Group’s chairman, Jonathan Lewis, adds: ‘Sir Ian’s appointment represents an important moment for us in this period of strong growth and development for the group. He will bring an enormous amount of knowledge and understanding about the Government, our biggest customer, and we will value his advice and guidance highly in the coming years.’
The Live Group organises more than 500 conferences, launches, special events, roadshows and awards ceremonies a year, and is the Government’s busiest supplier in this field, having been appointed to more than 20 preferred contracts. Its clients also include many public bodies, major national institutions and corporations. The group has developed its own technology that enables conference delegates to fully engage with each other and vote on issues. As well as staging events, the Live Group offers full content development and communications consultancy, and hosts more than 100 websites.
