MCI Dublin has announced the appointment of Jean Evans (pictured) as its director of conference services. Jean joins MCI from the business tourism unit of Dublin Tourism following its recent merger with the Dublin Convention Bureau.
As CEO of the convention bureau since 2004, Jean was responsible for the strategic marketing and development of Dublin as a business events destination to attract major international meetings and association conferences. A graduate of University College Dublin, Jean currently serves on the executive committee of the Ireland & UK chapter of the International Conference and Conventions Association.
In her move to MCI Dublin, Jean will replace Siobhan O’Hare, who has tendered her resignation following four years with the company. Siobhan initially served as operations director and played a key leadership role during some of the company’s largest and most successful conference projects. For the past two years she has been completing an MBA, and has now decided to explore opportunities for further study.
Commenting on the changes, managing director Patrick Delaney said : ‘We'd like to thank Siobhan for her excellent leadership over the past four years. She played a key role in helping to establish MCI as Ireland's premier professional conference organiser.’
Padraic Gilligan, joint-managing director, added: ‘Jean Evans brings a wealth of experience to MCI from her time with Tourism Ireland and Dublin Tourism. She is a highly respected figure in the meetings, incentives, conference and events industry, and we are thrilled to have her on board as the leader of our conference division.’
Formerly the Ovation Group, MCI Dublin is Ireland’s largest specialist business tourism agency, offering conference and event management services to national and international customers. The company has managed some of the largest association conferences ever staged in Ireland, and won several awards for its work.
