 Staff at Royal Armouries International plc (RAI) are celebrating after having earned a prestigious Investor in People award – which was presented to Yorkshire legend Sir Jimmy Savile in a ceremony at the eponymous Saviles Hall in Leeds.
The achievement follows an 18-month programme during which RAI have consciously worked toward the nationally recognised award. The Investor in People scheme (IIP) has more than 30,000 accredited members in the UK, but very few of these are in the conferencing and banqueting industry. RAI was therefore delighted to have achieved the accreditation on 1 July 2008.
Presented with the award by the CEO of IIP, Carole Reid, Sir Jimmy said: ‘In many parts of the world they only have problems. With Investors in People in Britain we have pride – and pride for workers is a magical thing.’
The Investor in People assessment at RAI involved in-depth interviews of a broad cross-section of 27 staff members from all aspects of the business. The assessor established that RAI met all the criteria required to achieve the award. The feedback was both positive and encouraging and confirmed that RAI was achieving what it set out to do: provide a high level of service and professionalism for the 700 events that take place within the Royal Armouries Museum and Saviles Hall, Leeds’ largest, newest venue.

RAI plc hosts more than 700 events a year in the Royal Armouries Museum and Saviles Hall – and over 11 years in business they have become an award-winning events company providing excellent facilities to the conference, exhibition and banqueting industry. This is the third award that the organisation has received in 2008.
