Rain failed to dampen the spirits of this year’s MIA Summer Golf Challenge winners Wyboston Lakes at the annual sporting event, which was held on 11 July. A total of 32 members and non-members took part in the 18-hole competition to win the beautiful crystal trophy and title of MIA Summer Golf Challenge champions.
Nine teams battled the mixture of sunshine and showers to complete the stunning course at Hellidon Lakes Hotel Golf and Country Club, in Daventry, Northamptonshire. But the day belonged to this year’s champions Wyboston Lakes, who won with a team score of 113 Stableford Points and took the title from last year’s winners East Midlands Conference Centre.
All those who attended the event were treated to a sumptuous barbecue before the MIA chief executive Jane Evans and chairman Nick Milne made the presentation to winners Ewart Munday, Sean Coxon, Tony Curtis and Graham Jacobs (pictured).
Ewart Munday, Wyboston Lakes' national sales manager, said: 'We are all absolutely delighted to have won the trophy. We complimented each other’s game throughout the day and managed to keep a good score as a result. It was a great event and even though the weather wasn’t always kind to us everybody really seemed to enjoy taking part.’
Jane Evans, the MIA’s chief executive, added: ‘This event is growing in popularity year on year. It’s a really good networking opportunity, and golf, with its handicap system, ensures that whatever stage your golf is at you can play with the best and still have a great day out.’
