Suppliers and buyers from across the meetings and incentive travel industry will have a highly structured networking opportunity at Meet in UK’s second ‘Meet the buyer’ forum at the Macdonald Bath Spa hotel from 20 -22 January.
Agencies and corporations in the incentive and conference market have the opportunity to meet with suppliers of meeting space, conference bureaus, individual hotels and hotel chains, in both a formal and informal atmosphere over a two day period. A mix of different venues and activities will ensure that the event maintains a lively pace, with networking opportunities maximised. There are four sessions of formal 'one 2 one' meetings in the mornings, followed by networking and educational afternoons, and a welcome buffet dinner and black tie gala dinner.
'We like to keep delegates enthusiastic and lively,' explains Meet in UK director Helen Tremlett: 'There’s nothing worse that sitting in the same room for an entire day staring at a wall, so we will be mixing up activities whilst maintaining a healthy work environment.'
Helen and her fellow director Steve Hodgson have strong backgrounds in the industry. Steve is Managing Director of events agency Blue Sky Corporate Hospitality and Helen is Business Development manager of conference venue The Royal Armouries. They have different priorities, one as a supplier and one as a buyer of MICE services, which means that the interests of both sides are carefully considered when forums are organised; delegate satisfaction is the fundamental aim of the company
'The industry is going through difficult times at present, and developing lines of communication is critical to maintaining trust between everybody in events,' says Steve: 'If we can bring people together to develop good working relationships, then everybody wins -- suppliers are able to build relationships with potential customers, and buyers are able to expand their knowledge of what venues are able to offer.'
Only agency and corporate delegates with the authority to negotiate on their company’s behalf have been invited to the event, which will allow the opportunity for strategic partnerships to be forged and give real benefits to all delegates. Essentially the forum is designed to offer a good use of time where all delegates meet relevant people in the industry, and develop and cement business relationships.
Numbers at the forum have been strictly limited to allow all delegates time to meet with each other in a relaxed business environment. There are also educational sessions and a social programme. 'We want delegates to leave having had a great time, made new business contacts, expanded their knowledge, but most importantly having developed many more good friends in the industry with whom they can do business,' added Helen Tremlett.
Meet in UK has plans to hold two further forums this year, one in Ireland and one in the North of the country. Those interested in attending can find more information on the company’s website.
