 On 16 and 17 September 2008, destination marketing partnership Yorkshire South Tourism (YST) will be exhibiting on stand V520 at the UK’s new-look venue exhibition, Event UK. YST will be there to promote the South Yorkshire region as a business tourism destination and build on the success of Confex, at which Yorkshire South was named Best UK Destination.
Earlier this year YST celebrated its second birthday, marking two years of sustained marketing activity promoting the region as a successful business tourism destination. The region is awash with investment, with new developments across the hotel and venue product.
Hundreds of millions of pounds have been invested in business tourism facilities in the last three years, with further developments being planned for the future. There are currently 12,000 bedrooms across the region with a further 1,000 beds under development. 2008 will see the opening of a 254 bedroom Jury’s Inn and the 158 bedroom Millennium Copthorne Hotel, both in Sheffield. And at Sheffield Hallam University, £2.7million is being invested in new venue facilities on the city centre conference campus.
The Yorkshire South Stand, which this year will be located in the Yorkshire Pavilion alongside other destinations from the region, will consist of stand-share partners Sheffield International Venues (representing Sheffield City Hall, Ponds Forge, Don Valley Stadium, Ice Sheffield and English Institute of Sport), Magna, Holiday Inn Royal Victoria Sheffield, Doncaster Dome, Keepmoat Stadium, and Conference 21@Sheffield Hallam University, as well as new partners Cutlers Hall and Kenwood Hall. This year’s stand will also provide buyers visiting ’Team YS’ the opportunity to win an exclusive weekend break to the region.
